Grace to you and thank you for visiting our website!
This Sunday, December 11, our congregation will be joining the First United Methodist Church for the Christmas Cantata. Worship begins at 10 am at our Presbyterian Church sanctuary in Harrisburg.
A few years ago we borrowed Franklin Graham’s idea of a shoebox of gifts for a child who might not have a Christmas, and adapted it for our own Harrisburg Westside School. Children in our own community attending Westside School are in need of gifts. The process is simple: you select a child of a specific age (4-5, 6-7, or 8-9) and specifically girl or boy. Then you fill a Christmas wrapped shoebox with small gifts and even items of clothing that a child that age might enjoy. Please deliver your boxes to the church no later than December 14th. The Deacons will make sure the gifts get to Westside School. Please clearly mark your wrapper box with the appropriate age group, and if it is for a boy or girl.
Christmas Joy Special Offering happens during Advent each year. Look for the bulletin inserts for more informations. An envelope for this offering was mailed in the December 2016 Presbyteer newsletter. Offering envelopes will also be available in the pews on December 18. You can also write Christmas Joy on the memo line of your check to designate it for this offering.
An evening of classical and religious Christmas music with our former music director, Madeline Rogers and her sister Lydia, will take place on Monday, December 19, at 7:00 pm.
If you would like to have a poinsettia delivered to the church in memory of loved ones or in honor of family members for Christmas, please have them delivered to the church on Wednesday, December 21st between 9:00 and 11:30 a.m. Forms were sent out by email, and are also available on the table in the narthex. If you don't have a form, you can send an email to HarrisburgPresbyterian@gmail.com or call the church office (253-8955) and let the secretary know that you are sending a poinsettia in memory or in honor of someone so that a list may be compiled for the bulletin. Provide the secretary with the names that the poinsettia is in honor or memory of, and how many flowers you are sending.
Do you like to bake cookies, or would like to learn? Do you have a favorite recipe you'd like to share? On Thursday, December 22 at 1 p.m. in the church basement we are having a cookie bake. Everybody is invited to bring recipes and ingredients for cookies to share and take home other recipes for the holidays. We may even sample a few. Some cookies will also be left at the church for the caroler's the next evening.
Join us for our Christmas Eve Service on Saturday, December 24. The service begins at 11 pm. This will be a candlelight service.
Did you know we've got a group for that? Nicotine Anonymous meets every Thursday at 12:30 pm in our Annex Building.
